One of New Zealand’s largest electricity distributors, Unison, has completed a major digital transformation, moving its core operations from TechnologyOne’s on-premise systems to its best-in-class Software as a Service (SaaS) Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform. This transition modernises systems to support more than 120,000 customers across Hawke’s Bay, Taupō and Rotorua.

Unison has deployed TechnologyOne’s fully integrated product suite to modernise core operations across finance, asset management, human resources, payroll, supply chain and enterprise management. Delivered through TechnologyOne’s SaaS+ model, the new experience creates a more connected, intelligent and scalable operating environment.

The transformation also gives Unison access to TechnologyOne’s intelligent ERP capabilities, including Plus, a next-generation, AI-enabled solution that simplifies workflows, surfaces insights and supports faster decision-making.

TechnologyOne Country Manager, New Zealand, Ben Sheehan, said “Utility providers are under increasing pressure to modernise critical systems while continuing to deliver essential services to communities. Unison is leading the way in modernising critical infrastructure operations in New Zealand by adopting TechnologyOne SaaS+, a fully managed platform that reduces complexity, supports continuous innovation and enables teams to focus on operational priorities rather than maintaining underlying technology.”

Unison IT Projects & Solution Manager, Sharon Jarvis, said the transformation strengthens our ability to serve our communities.

“Unison has powered communities for over 100 years, and this transformation strengthens the systems that support our network and people every day. Moving to the cloud gives our teams faster access to information, reduces system overhead and increases operational efficiency across the field and office. TechnologyOne’s SaaS+ model enables us to keep focusing on our core service - delivering reliable electricity to the communities we serve,” Ms Jarvis said.

Unison manages more than 11,000km of power lines and over $700 million in electricity assets. The cloud migration provides a strong digital foundation as the organisation continues investing in infrastructure, customer service and long-term network resilience.
